As a composer, she began her greatest production in 2002. In June 2003, she presented her first recital lasting more than two hours with only her own works, a concert in which 12 prestigious Costa Rican musicians participated. Her works specialize in chamber music which includes the piano.  Her language is neo-romantic, her works have been classified as compositions with great melodic development and with use of Latin American rhythms.

  9. Convik-Mort (2021) premiered at the University of Arizona by the Honduran pianist Joel Martínez.

Concert tours abroad as a composer and pianist:

  1. In October 2005 she toured Palma de Mallorca-Spain, where she performs 3 recitals with only works of his authorship. In this recital the parts of violin are performed by the Costa Rican violinist Grace Marín Aguilar (daughter of the pianist) and the other chamber music works are interpreted by Spaniards (flute, violin, viola, cello) and Pilar Aguilar plays the piano.

  2. In February 2006, the Embassy of Costa Rica in Mexico invited Pilar Aguilar as a composer and performer to perform a recital in the city of Mexico for the diplomatic corps, people of Mexican culture and others personalities. For said event, solo  were also interpreted.Aguilar's compositions for solo piano and for violin and piano. the violinist was Grace Marin Aguilar

  3. In September 2007, she was invited by several organizations to interpret Spanish and Costa Rican music (including his own) and performs la he also toured with his daughter the violinist Grace Marín (who lives in Spain)
    1. Paris (by the Embassy of CR) from where the recital takes place in
    the Golden Room of Les Invalides (where Napoleon's tomb is)
    2. Two recitals organized by the General in Chief of the Balearic Islands
    (they are in Palma de Mallorca)

  4. Another recital at the Festival of the Academy of Fine Arts en Sabadell-Barcelona.

  5. Europe Tour 2012- In May/June 2012 he toured Europe with his daughter the violinist Grace Marín where they perform only works of Aguilar. On this tour they were invited by the Embassies of CR in Austria, England and Spain. They also give a recital in the Netherlands y another in the Sala Pau Casals in Vendrell, where they record for Ars Harmonizes his CD “Huellas en el Mar”.

  2. “Mawanda Concert” (2017)- Concert for violin and orchestra premiered by OSUCR in Nov 2017. Soloist Grace Marín, conductor Alejandro Gutiérrez

  3. “Brushstrokes” (2018) work for “solo orchestra” dedicated to the great Master painter Rafa Fernández. This work, commissioned and rehearsed by the OSN, was canceled by the author after the general rehearsal on the day of the concert, since they wanted to cut one of the 4 small movements that made up the work. It was the only premiere in the “only women composers” program and the only composition by a Costa Rican.
